The Boston Celtics faced their first must-win game of the playoffs on Thursday night. Not even the most ardent Boston enthusiast believes the Celts could afford to lose on Thursday and win the series, as they were trailing the Lakers 2-1 in the NBA Finals odds. Thanks to Derek Fisher, who just outplayed everyone in the fourth quarter, the Lakers won a difficult game on Tuesday night. Now the Lakers will attempt to put a stranglehold on this series on Thursday.
Boston was a 3.5 point favorite with a total of 190 at SBG Global. It seems like they earned that rating because they got even in the finals on Thursday night with a win versus the Lakers.
It was a hard game, but the Celts pulled it off. The Celts rallied on the strength of its bench in the fourth quarter, directed by Glenn “Big Baby” Davis, in spite of having trailed by as a lot of as 8 points and being down 62-60 after the 3rd quarter. Kobe Bryant scored 33 points to lead the Lakers, while teammate Pau Gasol had 21. Derek Fisher continually made the huge plays down the stretch, leading the Lakers to win 91-84 on Tuesday night. Kobe Bryant had 29 points to top the Lakers but he missed a ton of shots.It was Fisher who claimed the game for the Lakers. Kobe gets most of the accolades when the Lakers win however not this time. It was Fisher’s game as he concluded with 16 points, 11 of these made in the fourth quarter. Kevin Garnett had 25 points to lead the Celts while Ray Allen, who had 32 points in Game 2 was totally closed down. He concluded with just two points after missing all 13 of his lineup goal attempts.
Boston didn’t get a whole lot out of Paul Pierce in Game 2, and they got nothing out of Ray Allen. Allen concluded with just 15 points. Rajon Rondo also didn’t rule as he had in Game 2 as he concluded with just 11 points, 8 assists and three rebounds. It was said before this series commenced that for the Celts to win they needed Rondo to dominate. He did that in Game 2 and the Celts won. In the other two matches he didn’t and the Celts lost.
