The United States 23-man squad for the 2010 world cup has been determined and the U.S. is expected to build some noise in world cup 2010 odds.
How the United States does in World Cup gambling may be based on their opening game against England.
There are several familiar names on the 23-man roster that U.S. coach Bob Bradley named on Wednesday. Landon Donovan and DaMarcU.S. Beasley are on the squad again but there are several new faces including Edson Buddle and Herculez Gomez. The squad had 7 people removed from it. They were defenders Heath Pearce and Chad Marshall; midfielders Robbie Rogers, Alejandro Bedoya, and Sacha Kljestan; and forwards Brian Ching and Eddie Johnson.
Donovan, Beasley, and defender Steve Cherundolo will be playing in their third World Cup in 2010. A lot of the people on the U.S. lineup are from Europe. As a matter of fact, 17 of the 23 people have been playing in Europe. There are two from Mexican teams and 4 from the MLS. 8 of the players have been playing in England, three in Germany, two in Scotland, and one in Italy, France, Norway and Denmark.
The United States are listed at 52-1, making them a long shot to win the World Cup. They are the second choice to win Group C behind England. The U.S. is 4-1 to win Group C while England is the odds-on favorite at -325. Slovenia and Algeria are not expected to be much of a risk in that group. The United States starts World Cup play against England on Saturday, June 12th. England is a -210 favorite in that game while the U.S. is 470 and the Draw is 290.
The United States hosted the World Cup in 1994. It has not yet, however, won the tournament.
